Being Prepared
This is a very busy time for our studio. Our end of year concerts are an amazing, but huge event to organise. So the best way to make this event as easy as possible for you and your dancer is:
-
Keeping this website and/or your handbook within easy access so you can easily refer back to it (trust us, this will become one of the most important things)
-
Keeping up-to-date with any emails we send out
-
Don't be afraid to ask us any questions!
-
As soon as you receive your head to toe note, if there are any shoes or stockings you require please see reception ASAP to ensure we can have these to you on time
-
Triple check your notes before each big day to ensure you have everything you need!
-
If available, smudge proof red lipstick is fantastic & also avoids getting any lipstick on costumes!
FAQ's
When do I need my hair and makeup done?
For both the photo/dress rehearsal day & the concert only
Do I need to wear my costume for the tech rehearsal?
No, please wear your normal dance uniform
Do boys need to wear makeup?
This is completely optional and up to the dancer & family
Why do I need to wear makeup?
Stage make-up highlights performers features so that they are not drowned out in the bright stage lights.
Can I wear earrings, undies or nail polish?
No, students cannot wear any of the above. All performers need to look the same on stage to create a uniformed appearance. Wearing undies under costumes creates big lines/seams & can take away from the costume. If earrings are unable to come out, clear earrings are available from Price Attack or small bandaids can be placed over them.
What is the difference between a bobby pin and a bun pin? Do I need both?
Yes all ballet students do need both!! A bun pin is wider and is what holds the bun into place. A bobby pin has small ridges on each side to help hold hair slicked back into place, or hair accessories.

Bun Pins:
Used to keep the bun in place
& flat to the head
Bun Nets:
Created only to cover the bun
Not too much netting

Bobby Pins:
Used to keep hair slicked back &
hold accessories into place

Hair/Head Nets:
Created to cover the whole head.
These have way to much netting to cover a small bun
